'Saalaa'

Both the sister's husband as well as wife's brother are 'saalas'in Gujrathi. In Marathi also'Mehuna' is a common term for both these relations. The same is the position in many other Indian languages .This reveals the marrages between nter-related persons prevalent then.

In Hindi the elder sister's husband is referred to as 'behanoi' but the wife's brother is referred to as 'saalaa'. What is more it is also used as a derogatory abuse showing the demeaning position of women in the society)
