OK, I'm in the market for a new TV! I'd like one with a DVI input so I can hook my computer up to it and play games or DVD's or do slideshows presentations and whatnot. Obviously clarity is very important to me, but so is size. I'm been comparing prices and I can get a 51" rear projection HDTV for about the same price as a 28" LCD. The rear projection is attractive because of the size, but I am worried about the picture quality compared to the LCD. Which should I go with and if you can recommend specific makes and models and distributors, that would be great. Thanx.

There are many LCD and DLP HDTVs (if not most of them) that have computer monitor (SVGA) inputs. You should use that for computers.

If you prefer DVI you can use the HDMI input with an adapter. However, DVI for computers is not the same as DVI (or HDMI, which for video is the same thing) for television. If you want to use DVI, make sure that the set allows you to set up the HDMI port for computer use. (The difference is the range from black to white: computers use 0 to 255, while TV uses 16 to 235.)

Rear projection tvs are magnificent yet like quite a few technologies is has its experts and cons. there are various stuff to contemplate. Rear projections will final you plenty longer than plasmas. it quite is because of the fact plasmas are made with gasses and the gasses will degrade over the years finding on how plenty you watch the television. yet with those projections you're able to desire to replace the bulb each 2-3 years additionally finding on how plenty you watch the television. you need to purchase the bulb rapidly from the producer of a secondary organization for $200-$3 hundred and changing it quite is extremely common. so they're going to final you a physically powerful 7-10 years. different than that the greater cutting-edge projections over you a much wider viewing attitude than the older ones and that they are available 1080p meaning a plenty larger determination. wish I helped.
