Good question. He certainly has his moments as there are several embarrassing depictions of Jesus. However, I think this shows at least 2 things: 1. Jesus is far more human than many give him credit for and 2. The writers of the New Testament were biased as it related to nationality and religious identity.

Perhaps the most egregious remarks are those in which people who do not follow Jesus, for whatever reason, are condemned to hell. This is not an image of a loving and gracious God. You may want to have a look at books by Hick and/or Pinnock that offers another view on salvation theory that is consistent with a loving and gracious God.

Lastly, the site that you reference is very interesting and raising some interesting points, however, the site in question is not characterized by any measure of scholarship, rather, it is written by a very skeptical and cynical person. Many contemporary scholars (Ehrman, Fiorenza, Fredriksen, Schneiders, etc.) treat these issues in a manner that is much more fair and takes historical, social, cultural, and textual circumstances into consideration. Their's isn't so much an apologetic as it is an attempt to honestly deal with difficult texts and ideas. Good question.

he didn't love his enemies but secretly hate them, he LOVED the people who did him harm, no strings attached. he is not "childish", the son of God who created man in his image...we too get emotional.
there is no contradicting for eternal life, when you love someone you don't steal from them, cheat on them and you honor them.
to "be like little children" is to not know of evil, temptation, greed, etc.
"heaven" is eternal life, to have it you must believe in Jesus, if you do then you know what's wrong and right, its not at all contradicting rather different ways of explaining the very same concept. LOVE.

That is a Atheist site. They do not want to be with God after this life, so they will not. God gave us free will, and He will respect that.

Jesus is not a "Jerk"...that is my answer.
