Brilliant question I love it you should read my last question it's sorta similar. Anyways I think we should rehabilitate people. All ages. And they can be. i know all about personality disorders and the different reasons why some can't be supposedly. But they can it is a simple solution. Jesus. Jesus can reach into the serial killers twisted past and fix and heal every little thing that makes a serial killer kill. He fills every crack every hurt because only he can know them all he knows what to heal.Child molesters same thing. Homosexuals same thing he knows how to fill every hurt.

Good question

I love you,

The age of adulthood is purely matter of social convention, there is no definitive answer. Laws in the U.S. mean whatever the courts choose to say they mean. A court can rule that day is night and that ruling will have the force of law until overturned. Most U.S. law is based on customs derived from the medieval Roman Catholic Church, and, as such, are not a coherent constructed whole but merely a bunch of opinions based on the personal biases and whims of the people involved. Jack Kevorkian was acquitted twice after breaking laws that had been specifically legislated to put him in jail. The same is true of double standards and anything else, a law with which no one agrees will not be obeyed. We proved that with laws against gambling, alcohol, drugs, prostitution, not to mention oral and anal sex between a husband and his wife, all of which have been ignored throughout the country since their inception. Ignoring the historical facts and passing such laws anyway is waste of every ones time and money, not to mention the threat to public safety posed by releasing rapists and child molesters from prison early to make room in prisons for college kids who were in possession of marijuana.

Being 12 years old doesn't mean you don't know that murdering someone is wrong. But a child doesn't think in the long term, they think in the immediate. That means they don't understand that getting pregnant is a lifetime committment, not just a moment of sex.

I'm a woman and a strong one at that. You know what I'd say to.

As for gay marriage, I think anyone should be able to marry anyone else that they want.

I've often wondered why there are so many definitions of "legal age". Apparently, it is open to the interpretation of the person who sets the rules. "He who pays the fiddler, calls the tune."

Why do we have a legal definition of an adult in the law, which varies from state-to-state, and yet it is up to the prosecutor that anyone, regardless of age, can be tried as an adult, depending upon the mood of the prosecutor, the uproar of the community as to the heinous nature of the crime, and whether an election was coming up? It's the ultimate hypocrisy, in my opinion, to have a legal definition of "adult", and yet that definition can be waived at the whim of the district attorney.

Also, why is someone considered an adult at age 18 when it comes to voting, or to enlisting and dying for ones country, but he must be 21 to purchase and drink alcoholic beverages legally? I don't know, and I doubt that anyone does know. it's up to whose ox is being gored.

And, yes, I agree with your original premise--as it is written. However, I personally believe that both ages should be raised to 14 (except in the case of mental retardation).

18 should be the total cut off of parental responsibility. It should be the legal age to do whatever.

Gay marriage? -- support it
Double standards for women? --There are lots of them.

Bash, bash, bash...you asked for it.

Some children do horrid things and need to be severely punished. NO child is ready for sex. We don't need to change those laws, those are fine like they are.

Sex and murder are completely different things, and not comparable to each other.
