Yes, they are quite healthy as long as they are RAW - not cooked in oil, salted etc.

Any kind of nut is good for you, considered one of the healthiest, natural foods there is. When I was going thru radiation for cancer and losing way too much weight, they told me to start snacking on nuts. I couldn't eat much at a time so I would sit a can on the end table and munch on them as often as I could. A cerain about a day is healthy and won't cause you to gain weight, but if you over-indulge, watch out because they are VERY fattening. Especially cashews. And if you are going to be eating a lot of nuts for a while, either for the energy or weight gain, try to get used to the unsalted kind. They are loaded with sodium and that is not a good thing for people with either heart trouble or high blood pressure.

Whole peanuts are a very important human food. Peanuts are very high in protein ( 25 grams per 100gram serving) of good quality. They are a very good source of energy, with 50 grams of fats and 16 grams of carbohydrates per 100 gram serving. About half their fat content is monounsaturated fats, about a third are polyunsaturated, and the remaining about fifth are saturated. Of the polyunsaturates, only a passing small amount is omega - 3.
Peanuts are a very good source of niacin (B3), with a healthy 112 mg/100 gram serving. They also contain vitamin E (8mg/100gms). Nuts in general, and peanuts in particular, are high in the bioflavonoid 'resveratrol'. This bioflavonoid is also found in red wine and is believed to help prevent the formation of arterial plaques. Peanuts have more resveratrol than grapes. Studies adding even small amounts of 'peanut products' to the diet have recorded a 14% reduction in the 'bad' LDL cholesterol. One ounce, or one small handful of peanuts contains 2 big grams of fiber. This is 9% of the fiber you need each day!

Yes, they are good for you, because they have proteins, vitamins, minerals, and other essential
nutrients such as phosphorus, magnesium, manganese and especially potassium. Beware the sodium content- it's very high!
Eating too many, can cause constipation and/or difficult bowel movements.
