It's genetic. If you have a certain gene, or gene deformity (not sure which it is) then you have a chance of getting Alzheimer's if you live long enough. My dad has it, his aunt had it, and he's actually part of a study where they are testing people trying to identify the gene.
That doesn't solve the problem of getting it but at least if you've got the gene you can have yourself cognitively tested to catch it early if you do manifest the illness.

It can be, but it's not definite. Right now, there hasn't been a gene discovered that's responsible for the disease, so we don't know for sure. Genetics seems to play a role, but there are a lot of other factors too. If one of your family members has Alzheimer's, then you are at risk for getting Alzheimer's yourself, but that doesn't mean that you will.

Alzheimer's is obtained by what you consume, the type of foods you partake of in your lifetime. How it is passed down in generation is by continuing to eat how you were trained to in your young days by those same parents that have it. We just continue to consume the same foods that caused it in our family members. Do some research! It will assist you in understanding what I am talking about. I did.

It can. My great grandma had it, my grandma (her daughter) had it, and my mom is showing the beginning signs of it from time to time. Hopefully I will not get it...but I keep my mind busy with things, etc...

If a parent or grandparent had/has it, it raises your chances of getting it, but it doesn't mean you WILL get it. My grandfather had it, my dad has it, but his brother doesn't.
