I certainly wouldn't, and I am sure neither would you. But why do so many people choose to celebrate holidays like Christmas and Easter, when they know that they have pagan origins? Does where something orignated really matter? No religion or holiday bashing please; just share your thoughts.

I apologize if anyone took my question to be that of judging "pagans". But I ask the question again, "Would you pick up that candy and eat it? Of course not! That candy is unclean. Like that candy, holidays like Christmas, Holloween, and Easter may seem sweet, but they have been picked from unclean places. To take a stand for true worship, we need to have a viewpoint like that of the prophet Isaiah, who said: "Touch nothing unclean." (Isaiah 55:11)

Society has shoved these holidays down our throats so drastically, that we are almost forced to celebrate them for our children ... I have stopped celebrating Easter and would thankfully stop celebrating Christmas too ... but look at it as a great excuse to get together with my family. We've stopped the circus of presents, etc., but put it into a better perspective of being thankful for having each other ...

I guess because I don't know another date that is significant to celebrate the birth and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That's all. If all the Christians decided to vote and move the dates of those holidays, that would be fine with me. It's just a date, though.

Many times I get uncontrollable urges to lick the floor so I suppose I could eat candy from the gutter. Matter of fact, I could probably lick the gutter too.

You're absolutely right--the christians don't deserve our candy

Nice to know you're sucking all the fun out of your childrens life--I knew a lady in central illinois who did that--her (only child) daughter got pregnant and moved out by the time she was 16--good luck to you!

Seems a bit judgmental referring to pagans as the gutter.

Didn't Jesus ask us not to judge?
