For christmas, I will have a one month old, 2 year old, 4 1/2 year old, and a 6 1/2 year old. People keep on asking me what they need for christmas and I can't come up with anything. They don't really even need clothes, only a few things maybe. They have too many toys as it is (of course they'll get some new toys because it is fun to get new ones). What would you say that your kids need for christmas? Just looking for suggestions- thanks :)

Christmas normally is not what they need rather what they want. It is the time of year to get them that special something that they have been eyeing all year.

My Daughter has everything she needs, and them some. I always spoil her at Christmas and she always gets what she wishes for from me. Her Grandparents and Uncles etc found it difficult to buy for her because i would already have what she wished for and they found it difficult to find something for a young lady (babies are much easier) so now her Grandparents buy her a premium Bond from each of them and silly nick knacks to open, hair slides bands bubble baths books etc. She loves these more then my big expensive presents. Her Uncles etc put money inside a card and she is allowed to spend £10 on rubbish and the rest goes into her bank for when she is 18. It sounds like your children also has everything they need and then some. So why not suggest to people to buy something very cheap, or a very cheap Xmas goodie bag (a selection of small (nick knacks) for each child and then put some money into a trust for your children. It also takes of the pressure of buying something they will like, not already have and they/you wont get angry if it brakes as it wasn't that expensive. I dont know why but you will also find that the children get much more pleasure and fun from the cheaper toys? Maybe its because theirs no stress attached to it. And their main Presents is safely tucked away earning interest!

I usually request the next season's clothing in a size too big. I also ask that anyone who wants to get a gift for my 18-month old send a gift card for any store where I can purchase necessities like diapers, wipes and eating supplies. That way I know that it is something that he can actually benefit from.

Maybe clothes for next year. That will save you from having to buy so many when they outgrow them. Also books are always good, or things that they can save for years to come. My son likes SpongeBob so I bought him a large snowglobe with SpongeBob and Patrick in it.

Maybe something nice that the whole family can make use of. Something like a portable DVD player for the car trips.

I have a stock answer: "Books, College Funds, and 3T winter clothes. They do not need anything that makes noise." My parents always laugh and reply "noisemakers. got it."
