I am about to set up a date with a young lady from craigslist - she is not a pro - according to her.

My question is, is there anyway it is a police setup? Can they solicit business in hopes of busting clients?

Why would you even take a chance? Why go with prostitutes in the first place?

Of course it may be a police setup. You are technically committing a crime, and that's why there are vice squads in existence. Dateline has nothing to do with it unless she specifically said that she was underage and you go along with it anyway.

Seriously, advertise on craigslist or something, don't stoop so low as getting a hooker.

Police can't solicit you for prostitution out of nowhere. This is called entrapment. If you can make the claim(and support it) that they convinced you to do something you normally wouldn't do, then you can use this defense. However if you were the one who approached them, or they didn't use any type of percieved coersion, then they can procceed in the guise of a client and potentially bust you.

Sure they can lol...

Police can use any method as long as it's not illegal, and posting an ad isn't illegal, unless the agency it's posted through specifically prohibits law enforcement from posting on it.

Entrapment can be overcome in so many ways by the police.

P.s. get a real date dude, don't go for some "bimbo", you'll be much worse off for the experience if you do...

Absolutely. If you're planning on paying her anything at all, it is prostitution and therefore illegal. Cops bust people fairly frequently this way, however, normally they act as johns to lure in pros. Just find someone you don't have to pay to have sex with you and avoid the whole issue.

Anytime you break the law you run the risk of being arrested. There are always sting operations going on 24/7. Here's the question for you... You feel lucky punk?

See you on Cops!!

I guess they could, but I don't think it happens often.

Far more common is male officers catching the real Ladies of the Night "red" handed.
