has anyone ever heard of a buzzard shedding it's nose

No a bird should not shed it's beak. if this has happened to your bird and the beak is completely off i suggest you take it to a vet, something is seriously wrong.
Sometimes the beak fill flake, this is like when your skin peels after getting sun burnt, and thin layers flake off of the beak, but the beak is still there. That is fine but if the whole of the beak is not intact there is definitely something wrong.

NO!? You mean shedding it's beak? Haven't heard of that either.

they do not have a nose but do have nostrils in the beak
