Fishing pyramid from the shore or a boat? Forget powerbait for trout. If you're going to get any at all, you will get them trolling a needlefish 40 or 50 feet deep. Or you can troll a nightcrawler with a small flasher or blades. Unless you can get access to deep enough water and get that float 50 feet above your hook.

Try this if you go to a trout derby or somewhere that was recently stocked with trout, i guaruntee it will work: take a very small trebel hook, tie it on. Then put a medium sized sinker on your line about 5-6 inches above your hook. Take some *pink Power Bait Trout Dough and form a small ball, enough to cover your hook. I had so much luck with this, I caught about 35 large rainbow trout at my local trout derby in Canal Fulton. It doesn't take long so just throw it out, let it sit for a few minutes, then before you know it you will be reeling in a trout, and they are good to eat too.

In N.M. we use a mixture of peach salmon and rainbow. Mix them together at about 50-50. make small dough balls and put on a #12 or #14 treble hook with a small amount of weight just before it about six to eight inches. I caught around 300 rainbow trout using this technique last winter.

In my personal opinion, for non stocked trout red is the best color. For stocked then brown is the best color as someone already stated.
