There's nothing wrong with liking someone of a different race. Some people just can't accept that, but it isn't right that they rain on the parade of someone else's happiness just because they're narrow-minded racists. Follow your heart. ;-)

I am 48 years old and do not have a problem with that at all. I personally do not think it matters. What I do not tolerate is when a man dislikes a woman because she is not beautiful enuf or a woman puts down a man because he doesn't make enuf money. Those are discriminating and so are the comments about race. If we all want the same freakin cookie cutter model person, there would be no one for the other 90% of the world. I say "think outside of the box". Cuz that is where the heart will bring you the most satisfaction.
p.s. if you are under 18, your parent's opinion will have to be honored for the moment.

It should not matter. You are two human beings, not just a white guy and a black girl. People are "scared" of the unknown. A lot of people worry about what other people are going to say, etc.
People automatically assume that prejudice refers to whites against blacks, but that is not the case. There are just as many blacks against whites as well as other races against other races.
I commend you for looking at someone for who they are and not what they look like, as in skin color.
Some people still hold grudges of the past, give your family and friends time. Also, if you do not give in to their wishes they will see that you are who you are and they cannot change your way of thinking.

It doesnt matter and your friends could just be jealous. Your family on the otherhand are just worried about what might happen. They dont want to see you get hurt, so listen to them and except what they are saying cause they have there own life lessons that they are drawing on. But in the end you will ahve to make the decission about what is right for you. Remember your family are only doing it out of love so be gentle with them.

There is nothing bad about it whatsoever. If you like him, go out with him, don't worry about what your family thinks.
I've been attracted to women of several different races and cultures, and I was afraid of what my family would think, so I never pursued anything, and I regret it now. You just have to let them know your feelings, that you've found someone you like, and they have to accept it. They are your family, and they should want you to be happy.

ok, so u like a guy from another race, yeah it might be hard, but we don't live in the old days when everybody hated everybody else(oh, wait, we still do) but it shouldn't matter what other people think. if u decide on what others say, u mught as well call urself racist too.

It shouldn't matter. People are stuck in a 50s mentality. If the two of you are interested in each other, go for it. Your family should want what's best for you. Love sees no color........I wish you luck!

Jasmine B, you keep thinking the way you think. We need more of you in this world. It shouldn't matter one bit. What matters is who he is, how he treats you and what the two of you have in common. Your family and friends are encouraging prejudice behavior and should be ashamed of themselves for pushing their ignorant ways on another generation.

It's not that big a deal, your family just isn't quite use to the idea of interracial dating. If it makes you happy, go for it.
