Now why on earth would you put thousands of US troops within range of a nuke? Keep in mind that North Korea's stance has been for years that they were developing a nuclear program to defend themselves against US aggression. We don't want to make their propaganda accurate, now do we?
Like it or not, they are part of the "nuclear nation" club now... and a risk to everyone.

A war in the Korean Peninsula will most likely have South Korea (and possibly Japan) having to fight alongside the USA, so probably the odds are the USA wont need to pull out of Iraq just for NoKor. They could just send in troops from Alaska, Hawaii or the Continental USA for reinforcements.

No, I want the entire troops home, and the troops put back into Korea that were pulled out to put in Iraq! Why do you want to pull them out of Iraq for Korea? We still have a total mess in Iraq! N. Korea, just a lot of sabre rattling, hasn’t attacked us!
We barely have enough troops as it is for our world commitment, much less another war! Iraq was fought with about 1/2 of the troops initially being (National) Guard! It won't happen again!
The North Koreans have nothing that weapon wise is alarming, or they can get out of their own backyard. They have no delivery systems even if they could make a warhead small enough to launch, and the biggest warhead they have produced is less than 1 kiloton, which is 45 times smaller than the one we used on Japan!
I don't know how many of you have been in Korea, but the summers are a little like Vietnams with monsoons, and the winter is a real bummer! Not a lot of snow, but sub zero temps and the winds pick up at night, not diminish! It is pure hell to have to fight in those conditions! We lose troops there every year from freezing to death!
If N. Korea attacks the South (We currently have only had a cease fire since 1953) I can tell you from personal experience of how the area is around the DMZ, there will be MASSIVE losses and I suspect almost 1/2 or better of the entire military that we have there will be killed within the fist few days! We expected that, and they still do! We had the 1st Calvary Division, with the 7th Infantry Division a few mile down the road. In addition, all of the artillery units were at the DMZ! One thing you can take to the bank, the N. Korean Army are no Iraqi Army!
If you think 1966 -1968 for combat losses in Vietnam was bad, you haven't seen anything yet!
There is no need to bully N Korea! They are like little kids who want attention, and they are very poor with many starving! China is opposed to the testing, which is good, and our major leverage to stay out of another war!
Stevey, there is no such thing as a war on terrorism! It might sound good, but you can't fight terrorist with a war! They have no country loyalties, nor do they represent one! The best way to minimize our risk is to see what is pissing them off and try and see how we can deal with it. Just the total opposite of what Bush has done! He has made it an unsafe world with more hating the US than ever in the history of our country! Even the spy agencies reports have said that, and Bush has no answer because he can't get us out of the mess he created! How in the hell is he going to fight Korea?
We lost 72,000 men in in Southeast Asia fighting Japan and killed 250,000 innocent men, women and children with 2 Bombs!
We had about 3/4 of a million men committed to the war with Japan! How many Republicans are going to get drafted this go round? And when you were assigned to that area during the war, the only way you got to come hone was in a body bag, or wounded! The rest were there for the duration, not 1 year tours!
In the Korean war we lost 33,741 with 103,000 wounded! There were 1,789,000 troops in that theatre! We had 5.7 MILLION active during the Korean war! In the entire active service right now, today, we have 1.2 million! We had more troops IN the Korean War Theater than we have currently active! That is a 4.5 MILLION men difference!! Where are you going to get them? Ready for your kid to come home missing all his limbs! Dead is easy!

It's going to take diplomacy to deal with North Korea, not a military action. And the way to deal with it is through China, North Korea's biggest sponsor. I read a news report that over half the food supply of NK comes from China; that's huge leverage.

There is no nuclear threat from North Korea. It is political propaganda of this sort that created the mess in Iraq.

The US has enough troops already over there, so we do not have to withdraw any one from Iraq.
