For those of you who don't know whether a higher power exists or not, have you had an experience where you felt that this might be the Divine talking to you, or nudging you? Or somehow, you just felt you were on the right path? If so, what did it feel like? And why are you still agnostic? If not, why do you think there may be a higher power, despite never having had the experience of one? Also, for those who used to be agnostic but aren't any longer, did this sort of experience (or lack thereof) help you to decide?

Yes, I have had the experience several times.

Great question!

I've had out of body experiences and spiritual awakening experiences through meditation. Later, I learned to question it to find out if the brain itself is capable of producing that effect (I believe it is).

If you are interested, you may write to me. I HIGHLY recommend you read the book "Why God Won't Go Away."

Maybe the "agnostic" simply doesn't feel the need to refer his experiences to the same sentimental conceptions that you do.

If he's really sure that he's had a "spiritual experience," or what is commonly referred to as such, he isn't what you'd label an "agnostic" anyway - he's a "gnostic." But that label doesn't commit him to any particular belief either. There are many ways to account for these experiences.
