I have a min pin to and they are very smart and they do catch on quickly. I suggest getting a book about dog tricks and make sure that there is a section on suggestions for the min pin breed. My husband taught ours to fall back when you hold him and have someone say bang, he dances, speaks, rolls over and shakes his paw. Our dachshund rides on a skate board, plays dead, stands up to beg, rolls over, shakes paw and speaks and sings. They can be alot of fun. good luck

my min pin is very smart and they catch on to tricks very quickly,, start with one trick at a time and be consitant with the same trick reward him/her with treats when they do the trick that you are working on. like with sit you push there bottom down and say sit and then say good girl or boy and then give the treat to them and with shake just say shake and pick up one of the paws and praise it and then give a treat... hope this helps you and good luck with your min pin

First you have to make sure you have his undevided attention when you want it no matter what is going on around him.
Then get some of his favorite treats (boiled chicken, hot dog, salami) Make sure they are in tiny pieces like the size of the tip of your pinki, smaller if he still has to chew it.
Pretty much you just work slowly, like when you want them to lie down. Put them in a sit and give them a treat.( you do this by pointing your pointer finger (while holding treat between thumb and middle finger) up to its head and just over it towards it back. This will force the dog to look up and sit so that it does not loose its balance. After this to get the dog to lie down, after they have learned the sit you make them sit and point the same finger (treat in hand as before) towards the ground in front of them. If they don't get it slowly move your hand towards the floor untill they lie down.

basically you have to do everything step by step. If you want some basics to go on I suggest the classes as petsmart. They teach you how to teach your dog. Classes are a lot of fun too.
