Well, first, it doesn't answer to the people, in general. You have to become a paid lobbyist to get your voice heard. Then, you can also write the bill proposals for the politicians to be sure it will say exactly what you want.
Also, the government doesn't cover the issues that effect all Americans. It will default to wedge issues, like homosexual marriage and flag burning. Issues that really don't effect very many, but will incite many to mouth foaming.
God, I just depressed myself.

It used to be the best form of government on the planet. Our founding fathers had some pretty good ideas back then. Unfortunately, special interests have kind of taken over. Another big problem is the average voter is too uneducated (stupid) to make intelligent, informed choices when voting and, consequently, we end up with too many knuckleheads in power.
