i ahve just recently been asking about free masons. i do not knwo a lot yet but what i think is since smith was a mason, when he created his cult he wanted it to look apealing so he took things from the masons and added it to his cult. thats y th mormons have some of the same ideas as free masons. as for them, like i said i am just recently learning more about them so i can not say one way or the other.

There is no formal connection between Mormons and Freemasonry. With that said, Joseph Smith was a Freemason and certain parts of the Mormon temple work are copies of Masonic ceremonies. So while there is no formal connection between the two (indeed, Mormons were not allowed to become Masons in Utah until the 1980s), there is some influence between Masonic ceremonies and Mormon temple ceremonies because Joseph Smith was a Mason. One of the most common urban legends about the murder of Joseph Smith in Nauvoo, Illinois is that the Masons killed him for revealing secrets.

no longer a lot as we talk. Freemasonry in Utah banned Mormons from transforming into a member of until eventually 1983 or 80 4. countless the early Mormons were Masons, notwithstanding i imagine the Navuoo inn the position Joseph Smith replaced right into a member replaced into stripped of its status and called a rogue inn. Mormons evaluate the temple stuff sacred so that they regularly received't talk it, yet i found on a Mormon message board a Mormon who occurs to be a freemason, no longer likely a lot into component yet going into some stuff in the temple that would want to seem from masonry. He suggested that he thinks Josesph Smith presented a number of it to make issues a lot less complicated for Mormons to comprehend by using maximum folk throughout that era no longer being literate. With literacy exceptionally a lot status que in the Western international, countless the stuff in the temple replaced into bumped off as being of no need for this technology. That replaced into his idea atleast.

no there is not. Freemasons started in England in the 1600's or 1700's. The mormons started with John Smith who was an American who had a vision about Jesus visiting United States.

Many similarities... in chosen garb.. temple ceremonies. Joseph Smith was clearly influenced by the Freemason movement that was at its zenith around the same time he was getting his divine revelations.
