It was too dangerous for them away from the rear, not only from a war point of view, but because the US soldiers presented danger cause they were so horny. I'm not kidding. I served in a MASH Unit, and we had male nurses, not like the Korean MASH units as portrayed in the movie and TV show.

I know for the vietnamese point of veiw they were ful on soldiers i saw a recruit poster for the in my history class that had a woman with a baby to her breast and a AK 47 in her hand. As for the Americans i dont tihnk there were any women "on the ground" fighting they deffinately weren't conscripted like the men at any rate lol.

My mother served as a Hospital Corpsman(as did my father) during Viet nam. she never left the States, although my father went on two deployments witrh Marines In country. her specialty was reconstructive surgery assistant. she assisted the surgeons in the OR who rebuilt bodies.
