I prefer to use bar soap while taking a nice hot shower. I love the way my body smells afterward. But I am not sure if it leaves film on my skin or not.
Sometimes I enjoy using body wash, as the lather is great with liquid washes.
Washclothes are easier to wring out than sponges. Sponges, if not wrung dry, can harbor water for bacteria to form.
So I say washclothes are best.

body wash works best , i used to use olay bar soap but it seem to dry my skin after so long, I trust aveeno body wash, and it does make a difference. My body wash makes my skin soft and conferable clean, and i think using a washcloth is best. Its, true about the sponge. It does build bacteria and who knows what Else in it. Be safe and throw your sponge away.

a rough detergent soap may be cleaner, but it'll take a lot out of your skin. For moisture, it's a toss-up between a gentle soap, like Dove, and a body wash.
I've found that using a fragrant body wash is a good alternative to using perfume, too. It leaves a lighter scent that lasts longer. In today's workplace, it's not a good idea to wear heavy perfume. It's a good alternative for me.

Experts say that loofahs and sponges actually harvest a lot of bacteria and fungi in them, so it is better to use a washcloth.
As for the bar soap or body wash, depends which you like better.

A creamy body wash is almost always better than bar soap for your skin. It dries it out less. Olay Ribbons with Almond Oil is a favorite of mine.
I prefer "scrub-gloves" to either washcloths or sponges. They help you exfoliate your skin, and can be tossed in the washer periodically to make sure they are squeaky clean and disinfected. I keep one set for my body and one for my face.

I heard bar soap can actually hold bacteria therefore spreading then with whatever comes in contact.
Some recommend body wash cause it is much more mild and will not spread bacteria.
Especially if you are sharing a shower...

I find that barsoap is the only way that I get squeekyclean. Body wash smells nice, but it doesn't actually kill bacteria or germs on your body. The nice smell doesn't last after you wash it off either. I'd definitely stick with the bar. :)
