Well, now, that's why... they call nuns, nuns... they don't get nun (none) :-) Way back a zillion years ago, I knew there was a nunnery in upper lower Michigan that pregnant nuns went to.

If a nun were pregnant she would have the baby but, it is very easy for a nun to relinquish her celibate life so why would a nun go and get pregnant if she no longer wished to remain a nun? This question does not make sense.

The church doesn't believe in abortions, so she would have the baby, then since she broke her vows she wouldn't be able to continue life as a nun but would take the child and raise it out of the convent. There is something like this in "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown if you're interested.

She probably is NOT kicked out of the congregation, but she may be kicked out of her order .. certainly a lot of soul searching on what to do next.

Actually it think it would depend on what her mother superior thought was best and if she was going to try and keep the baby herself or give it up for adoption.

Aborting the child would add another complication that would make it difficult to stay as a nun.

and some orders are compassionate and others are quite ugly.

I forget the author who spent 10 years in a monistary, and when he decieded not to take final vows .. he was on the street within the hour with $500 in his pocket. Boy what culture shock. Had to go to someone else's mission to live and put his life straight.

Guess she gets shunned and is never allowed to become a nun. but it probably depends on the denomination.

I would imagine that would mean she would no longer be a Nun, that she would be evicted from her position. Of course, if it was by rape, there might be extenuating circumstances. Not being Catholic, can not say this with any authority.
