I recently bought an old truck for parts for mine and it does run so I figure I can drive it to my house, but it would only be on the road for the day I drive it and then get parts removed, somebody told me my insurance company could temporarily cover it for that day, but does the BMV have something like that like a 3 day plate or something like that. I live in indiana.

Most states offer a "transport tag" which will allow you to move a vehicle one direction from point "A" to point "B". You still need to get insurance though. If your carrier doesn't offer any kind of short term, you can always put the vehicle on your policy and take it back off as soon as you have the vehicle moved. The insurance company will either credit your policy or send you a refund check. I've done it many times purchasing large trucks all across the country. Generally you get it from your state and take it with you but you can also get it from the state the vehicle is presently in too! I would definitely not follow the advice of "Sara D" or you will find yourself with more problems than you bargined for-GUARANTEED!!!!

if you just bought it you dont know what can go wrong with it when moving . what would you do if it broke in the steering box or something? you better just get a dolly or trailer and pull it home.
