THE MOST REASONABLY PRICED HOTEL ON ISLA VERDE IN SAN JUAN IS THE EMBASSY SUITES THEIR ROOM RATE INCLUDES A GREAT HOT BREAKFAST BUFFET PLUS A MANAGER'S RECEPTION IN THEIR LOBBY THAT OFFERS FREE COCKTAILS FOR 2 HOURS EVERY EVENING. SHORT 1 1/2 BLOCKS TO BEACH AND CLOSE TO EVERY THING.

WE STAYED A GREAT NEW PLACE IN OLD SAN JUAN. CALLED CASA CANDELA .NOT A HOTEL MORE LIKE AN OLD ROOMING HOUSE VERY COOL AND MORE THAN REASONABLY PRICED PLUS IT IS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE TO EVERYTHING IN OLD SAN JUAN INCLUDING EL MORRO E-MAIL ME

San Juan, Puerto Rico is a pretty expensive island. In fact for some of what you would pay for a hotel that is not all inclusive you could get elsewhere with an all inclusive.

Unfortunately it can be difficult to take suggestions of others because there property was maybe perfect for them, but might not for you. Everyone travels different along with expectations.

There are several properties I "could" recommend, but again I just wouldn't be doing you any favors throwing names out there.

I would highly suggest working with a good travel agent that can pre-qualify you by asking you questions to determine not only within what you would like to stay budget wise, but put you at the property that we feel is a good match for your vacation.

Not all agents are going to be able to do this. It is like any job, there are good and bad agents out there. There are the ones who say you walk in and say to them "I want to stay here". A bad agent will just say "Ok" because it makes it easy for them. A good agent is going to at least take some time and talk to you. Not that we are trying to change your mind per say, but just get a feel if we think this place will in fact be right for you or was it just the place your neighbors stayed, but you know nothing more than they loved it. Sometimes what is right for your neighbor IS right for you. Just depends is all. The other reason is a good agent will know what vendors tend to price better for different hotels/destinations.

Much against popular belief agents don't tack on commissions. In fact if you book through the vendor you pay the same amount it is just that company makes more money not having to pay an agency. Many agencies do charge a minimal service fee as we put a lot of time and research into finding you the best prices which during the high season especially this can be crucial to save you as much as you possibly can.

If you book far enough out, then many agents might have a promo code to give you a discount. This really does depend on your dates, because there are certain dates that are blacked out. Most of these potential discount codes will expire by the first part of Dec. if not earlier.

Regardless of which route you decide to take though, I really wouldn’t wait long there are several dates in the high season that are nearly sold out and prices are determined mostly on dates along with availability for your dates. If you have flexibility that can help us ensure to if your specific dates are bad we can look into a day or two before or after if you would like us to do so.

I would be happy to help you in planning your holiday to Puerto Rico if you like. Please note to that the US Dept. of State isn't requiring a US Passport, however many airlines are requiring a passport for Puerto Rico. So it is a pretty safe bet to just know that you will need a passport.

If I don't hear from you though I hope you have a fantastic time in Puerto Rico it really is a lovely island, lots of history.

I suggest the Marriott or the Caribe Hilton, I've stayed at both and had a great time, the Marriott has a great casino and is close to everything fun. You can also check out Hotel El Convento, its right in Old San Juan and everything is walking distance.

I have stayed at the Intercontinental it is right on the beach, and has a casino in it nice pool. and has nice rooms. Find someone who works for a holiday inn and get them to go on vacation with you they can get up to 2 rooms at an employee rate if they are available you can save a ton of money. good luck and enjoy
