I seem to be having a lot of teeth problems lately...
If you saw my last post, I mentioned that I had pain near the tooth where my cavity is. I was wrong. I have pain on my gum two teeth ahead, and I'm starting to think that I may have an abscess. I had my mother try to look to see what she saw and she said she thought she saw something that looked like a small pimple.

I go to the dentist in about two weeks. What I've read about letting abscesses sit too long is that they make you sick. The pain is bearable, mostly just annoying. I'm not really sure if it's an abscess, if I got food stuck in there, I poked too hard with the toothpick-end of my floss stick, or what. I have "magic mouthwash" from about 10-11 months ago when I had a mouth ulcer/abscess and I've been trying to use that to numb it and make the infection better. I'm not sure if the dentist can schedule me in any earlier than two weeks though.

What should I do? What can I do?

Sounds like an abscess. If you call the dentist and say that you now have a small white pimple near the tooth, they will most likely get you in for a quick look, if nothing else. After seeing it, they may prescribe an antibiotic to get things under control. Or, they may go ahead and initiate whatever treatment you need or make an appropriate referral to a specialist.

Anyhow, the presence of that pimple constitutes a change that will "get their attention" and if there is any time available - even as a brief emergency appointment - they will get you in sooner. At least that's what I'd do.

Don't mean to use the traditional scare tactics, but get it checked out ASAP. What starts out as a little abscess can turn into an ugly infection, quick. A friend of mine had an abscessed tooth & didn't get it taken care of right away. Well it spread, ended up blocking his airway....he had to be put on a ventilator and almost died! So, don't risk it and get to the dentist ASAP...call them and let them know what's going on & they should be able to squeeze you in. Better to be safe then sorry.

It sounds like an Abscess. One night about 10 years ago i feel off my bed and had hit my mouth on the night table. This was on a sat. sat night i felt mouth pain like i never felt. No dentist was open on Sunday and so i took pain killers and nothing helped. it was horrible. Went to the dentist who in turn sent me to a specialist. found out that the root was dead, but the pressure was what was really hurting me. He had to drill with out meds and the second the drill hit my tooth and all the fluid was released, the pain went right away. Go see a dentist right away. maybe you will be able to avoid all the pain that i had to endure. Good luck.

are you running a fever? an abscess is an infection, and not to be messed around with. try to get an earlier appt. with your dentist. tell them what you fear is wrong. If it gets into your bloodstream it can make you really sick. and only certain antibiotics can help. Dont take a chance.
