There are programs for both 3 and 4 year olds. I do not believe that a 3 year old program is much more than a daycare. My children started a K-4 program and they were actually reading by Christmas. Ask about the work your child will be doing and ask to see examples. Some 3 year programs are "learn through play" and I don't see paying someone else to do what I'm here to do. K-4 is a great program.

You can start them at 3 or 4, but I kept my children out of preschool and just started them in Kind. I found that at 3 & 4 they pick up too many bad influences from other children ( like kicking, biting, and temper tantrums). if you buy a few books, even at your local Wal-mart--you can teach them what they need to know to be right on track for Kind.

They can start at either age. My mom put me in at age 3...I loved preschool! I think it's easier to adapt to school, or not being around a parent and getting along with other kids earlier than starting out in kindergarten.

It depends on where you live. Where I live the child has to be 4 years old by a certain date. Just check with the preschool that you intend to send your kid.

its really up to each individual family - but whats inportant is that your child goes to a safe loving place that you feel comfotable with. I think between the ages of three and four is great for a child to learn interaction with other children before school starts.. Good luck
