I may be on the wrong site for appliances, but does anyone know if you can have a upright freezer or frigerator outside in a shed? My frigerator was in an outside shed and I tryed to keep the door semi closed for ventilation, but when the heat came it stopped working. I now close the door somewhat and it has been working. My question is: Are appliances subject to cold and heat?

Appliances are subject to cold & heat. For example, a fridge in Northern Ontario in the winter will keep food at the set temperature for a while, but if the temp outside, or where ever the fridge is located gets below the set fridge temp, the inside of the fridge will eventually go to that temp. It sounds like where you live heat is a problem. If the fridge stops working due to heat, I'd suggest unplugging it and defrosting/cleaning it, because a build up of frost in the freezer will stop the fridge from working properly.

You would need to keep the rain off of it. Wetness will damage the wire connections with rust resulting in compressor failure. A waterproof covering may work as long as the compressor area gets ventilated well, it will overheat without air flow and freeze up. No pun intended with "freeze up". I had one outside on my back porch for years, but it had a roof. Good luck!

every fridge have its own cooling temperature as set by the consumer depending on the thermostat setting.now if the temperature conditions outside the ref is hot then penetrating the refs insulation, the ref has to reach the temperature setting no matter what.this keeps the motor working for more just to reach that temp.setting.resulting it to stop pumping if it was overheating....(",)

it will be okay as long as out of weather---used to have washer, dryer, and freezer in a lean-to on pallets, surrounded with tin and large opening we would stand a sheet of plywood when storming.
