Herpes simplex is a virus that causes blisters to form on your lips and on the inside of your mouth. These blisters, called cold sores, develop in to painful ulcers. Your gums become swollen and deep red, and often the tongue is furred. You may have a fever and feel generally unwell. The older you are, the more severe the infection. In young children, the initial attack is usually so mild that it may pass unnoticed. After the infection has cleared up, the virus lies dormant. Later, another infection, or exposure to sunshine or wind, reactivates it.
Mild cases of the first infection need no treatment. In severe cases your physician may advise you to rest, take aspirin if you have a fever, and use a mild mouthwash. Cold sores generally clear up uneventfully. However, if the blisters are espeicially painful, your physician may prescibe a medication that you apply to the sores to ease the pain as the sores heal. When you first feel it coming on the Dr. can you give you some medication that makes it not as bad and it clearss up faster.

when you feel it coming you can also put ice on it, get an ice cube and wrap it in a paper towel (so you can hold it without freezing your hand as much) or put it in a sandwich bag (so you wont get your hands all wet when it melts) and just keep it on the cold sore till the ice melts if you have time, use a second cube. That has worked for me in the past but you got to do it as soon as you feel or see signs of it. This is good if you need it at that moment and dont have any medication around.
Sorry about your problem

Hmm, maybe you can consult with a cold sore specialist. There has to be something to cure it. How is your diet? Are you stressed? Maybe certain types of food that you eat trigger them to come back and not heal properly.

go to the drug store....
buy the ambesol stuff for cold sores.... when you feel it starting to come in.....put this stuff on hourly until the thing passes.... you might get some redness but no outbreak!!
also,.... dr's can prescribe stronger stuff
YOU HAVE TO keep it with you to use AS SOON AS you think one is starting...start too late and it useless

I had a really bad one like this once.
Nothing helped it, but - now the good news.....it was the last one I ever had. So far anyway.
I haven't had one in 24 years.

try asking your doctor for supressive medication, a prevention route rather than a cure...

sounds like you've done just about everything you can do. The only thing I know to tell you is don't pick at it.
