i work in a salon, and yes i believe you should tip the owner. the owner works the hardest and also has alot of over head. you should tip what you normally would tip someone.

The tipping amount is really whatever you want, but if you want to follow what is considered proper tipping etiquette, the percentages don't change because of the price. Of course, you can always go on the lower end of 10-20%. If you are going to go to a more expensive salon, then it's assumed that you can afford $120 plus tip. If it is really a big crunch for you, then I would recommend finding a salon that is more in your budget.

It isn't necessary to tip the owner of any business as far as I know. The last time I had my hair done by the owner of the salon I brought her a small bouquet of flowers instead.

I think so...

I tip about 15% to 20% of cost (not including the cost of hair products that I buy while I am there)... 15% if the stylist did ok work, 20% if she did an outstanding job...

I also tip the shampoo person (about 5%) and the nail person (about 10%)...

:)
Best Wishes...
T.

Only if the owner is your stylist and that depends on if he/she did what you classify as a good job (15-20% tip should be sufficient.)

i sometimes do if the hairdresser does a really good job... otherwise, they're really not doing much other than what the basic fee requires of them!
