The Chi flatiron is one of the best flatirons. It is a professional flatiron widely used by stylists in salons. It has ceramic plates, which is definately your best choice. I have the Chi flatiron and I use it on myself and it has never failed me. It is available at Trade Secret and JC Penney Salons. The Paul Mitchell flat iron, I have heard, is also very good. It also has ceramic plates but I don't know where you can purchase one. I would also recommend using a heat guard spray such as Iron Guard 44 by Chi or Iron Smoother by Sleek Look.

I don't think it matters which product you use - they are all about the same. Find one that you put on while your hair is damp, and then blow it dry, pulling the hair straight with a brush. Then, when your hair is dry and straight, put a dab of the same product into the palm of your hands, and rub them together. Lightly go over your straightened hair, to keep what you have straightened, in place. I use a Tricoci hair straightening product under the Match label. You can call them at 1-800-TRICOCI and order it over the phone. It costs under $20 and lasts forever (it's a spray).

I've used the Hot Tools straighteners and have always been happy with them. My hairstylist told me the best to use is the tourmaline, I guess it doesn't dry out the hair as much as the ceramic only straighteners. I just bought one and it works great and my hair doesn't look fried. Wigo guarantees theirs for 3 years and Hot Tools for 1 year (against defects). You can try looking on Ebay, you may find them a little less in price.

I have remington wet 2 straight and it works great!! I can straighten wet, damp, or dry hair and has several settings on it. You can get it at any store practically like Fred Meyers, me and all my friends have it! Plus it's cheap, it was like $25!!

hot sets22 by Redken... you spray it on as you're straightening. I have like Irish curly hair, and it gets it straighter than anything else I've used.
