Beer is a carbohydrate, so it's fattening.

One glass of red wine per day is supposed to be very good for your heart.

A shot of whisky or burbon when you're sick is supposed to help you get better.

It depends on your standing and opinion.

The average lifespan of those who moderately consume any alcoholic beverage, defined as a drink or two daily but not more and no binging ever, is 1 1/2 to 2 years (females to males)longer than for teetotallers. It is generally believed the greatest benefit comes from red wines because of antioxidants and other substances in the grapes' skins, followed 2nd by rich full bodied beers and ales (due to nutrients in the grains used to make them).
