I have been a vegetarian for 11 years now. It can be a healthy option. I gave it up because I didn't like meat. Did you give up all meat? There are a lot of good veggie options. I LOVE the schneiders oh naturel chicken nuggets! Are you vegan? If you still eat dairy products and eggs, you are still getting a lot of the nutrients that you need. Keep up to date on dietary needs and how to naturally make up for the nutrients lost. Dark green leafy veggies are really good for iron. So are beets and eggs. I read about a study today that says vegetarians should have vitamin C with their meals so that their bodies can process the iron better. I go to the doctors once a year and say, "I'm a vegetarian. Test me for any possible deficiencies." That way I am sure that I am not depriving myself of any necessities. I don't feel that you need to take any supplements or vitamins provided that you know what you are doing and keep eating foods that give you what you need.
Congratulations on your life decision, but remember, don't judge others for not making the same decision. Keep an open mind.

Well that would depend on what you mean by healthy. My brother turned vegetarian, and he got so freaking skinny and weak, well lets just say I am 225 lbs and if I ever looked like him I would have to shoot myself. That being said, if you are vegetarian and stay away from all the chemical additives and such, it could be. Meat is dangerous from a bacteria standpoint clearly, but I honestly believe humans are meant to be omnivores. Moderation is key, but if you have a serious ethical issue with eating meat, well I am not going to try and talk you out of it.

Well it is because animals have a lot of bad stuff such as cholesterol, but most Vegetarians take many vitamins because the veggies don't have enough of the nutrients that they need and that are supplied by meat.
