I would like to start potty training my son. I need input on potty's .. good input and bad. There are so many out there. Different styles, from simple to noisy and animated. Personally... I dont think I would want one that giggles and shakes him right off, but I would like to know what works best for everyone else, and which ones to steer clear of. I would start him on the regular one but I know he is leery of the large big person hole as opposed to the smaller one on child potty's. So please any input is much appreciated : )
Thanks for reading :) Also any ideas for using the potty while away from the home ( without his own potty once he is confortable using it ) would be a great help as well.

The real one - my son hated all the toddler potty's - and training him on the real potty makes it easier for him to be able to go at restaurants and friends houses.

Good luck.

Either let him go with you to buy the potty or try to find one of those inserts that make the regular potty seats into a kid sized seat. I know Walmart carries them. They just fit right on top of the regular toilet and usually have small handles on the side for kids to hold onto. And they lift right off. No assembly required! That is what we used with my son. He thought the little potty was a toy and wanted to use it like a regular chair. He once drug it into the living room to watch tv in it! I kinda think those little ones are a waste b/c they use them for such a short amount of time...but you child has to be comfortable. That is all that matters in the end.

Ibought my son a potty from mother care and it is like a chair...Small potties although easy to carry around are too low to the ground and the child looks very uncomfortable...Iused to sit my child on this infront of the tele and then without thinking he would just go....He was out of nappies at 18 months and only ever had 2 accidents

Why not take him to the store to help pick out the potty he'd be most comfortable and even excited to use? If he has a say, he might be more likely to really try. Just a thought I had. I also let my kids choose their first big kid undies before we started with the potty. They couldn't wait to wear them which helped motivate them out of diapers! Good luck!

I have two standard step stool pottys. My daughter can use it, and then put the lid down, and use it as a step stool to wash her hands in the sink. We have a travel potty ring for when we go places later. For now we put one potty in the van (we just have to clean it when needed).
