Normally with hold food for one day. Also you can make him ground beef, with the fat drained off, and rice or turkey and rice. Feed this in small amounts frequently and if he seems to be doing ok increase the amount of food and decrease the number of feedings. If this seems to do the trick slowly work in his normal food. Do not switch back right away this will cause him to get diarrhea again. If this keeps up get him to the vet and bring a fresh poop sample they might want to check it for internal parasites just in case.

I'm sorry your pup is sick- I know you feel horrible.

Take your pup to the vet to see why he is sick. It's impossible for anyone here to tell you what to feed the dog (or if the dog should be fed at all) without knowing why he is sick.

If your vet wants him to eat, he will probably give him a canned food called a/d. It's a perscription diet that will ensure that you pup gets hydrated.

Until you see your vet, try giving some pedialyte. Please don't feed any solid foods until you seek a professional diagnosis as to why your pup is sick.

Good Luck:)

You can feed him a little boiled chicken and rice. If the diarrhea is bloody, and/or the diarrhea and vomiting continue he needs to be seen by a vet. It could be parvo, coccidia, giardia, among other things. These do not go away on their own. Make sure he is drinking enough water or he will get dehydrated.

Water is the most important thing - dehydration is your dog's biggest obstacle at the moment. If he shows signs feeling better (ie. he isn't gagging or throwing up) you can try some crackers or bread. If the problems persist, or if you have any suspicion of the ingestion of poisons, get to your vet.

Give him Pepto Bismall, if he is a large size dog, give him a tablespoon every 4 hours, if small size dog, give teaspoon every 4 hours.Usually the first dose works right away. When you give it to your dog, hold his head, a massage his throat, so it goes down.Make sure he does not drink any water for at least 30 minutes.I use this all the time for my three dogs.Especially my older dog, who gets the runs during the winter a lot.

When my dogs had this problem the vet told me to fry hamburger and mix it with white cooked rice. This really does help. I hope your dog if feeling a lot better real soon. If your dog isn't better within a couple of days contact your vet.

anytime a dog has diarrhia give them cooked white rice and cooked, drained chopped meat. Kaopectate will help as well. If they aren't drinking much give them Gatorade so they don't get dehydrated.
