Beets have great color, blueberries are good. Want to try to make the first spinach or carrot sugar cookie? Try putting any of these through a juicer and then cook off some of the water before using.
If you don't have a juicer, you can blend up the fruit or vegetable and then press out the liquid in a strainer into a bowl

There are fruit juices that do pretty well, even in small enough amounts to have no significant effect on the taste. You may even find a health food store puts these up in concentrates to use for food dye. If not, there's a clue for some enterprising young biologist.

make ur own natural food coloring, even though i hardly agree that food coloring is bad. almost everything is colored. if u want to be healthy, lay off fast food, get organic and soy and tofu etc. But to make ur own food coloring, use colorful fruits, like rasberrys, blueberries etc and crush them over a contain to catch the juices, add a spec of honey and water

juices would dye them but you would need a large amount and if your making icing that would be to much liquid i would go with kool aid powder but watch the amount as it will flavor your icing....but that can bring it up a notch....cherry koolaid on choc cake it would be a cherry choc cake ...and so on...and by only using the powder your wont change the textur of the icing ...but what is added to koolaid?????
