and let's say with the same amount of output coming from each source, & the source from each is side by side; which one would start to diminish first, & could you manipulate either one at the furthest point to encourage further distance... dont ask me why I thought of this question,I was just eating a bowl of sugar puffs & it come into my head.

sound is 1/3 slower than light, but, in a 1-in-a-million shot, it can be done by getting the sound waves to disperse, or expand for an extended period of time.

Light travels in straight lines and doesn't diminish very much unless it meets a opaque object or surface. It doesn't need any help
Sound travels in every direction losses energy all the time. It will travel through most objects although some much better than others. Sound needs a medium to travel anywhere
If you were underwater, sound would go further but in space, sound wouldn't even get started. Thats why you don't hear the sun rise
Without retransmitting them there's not much you can do after they reach the end of their energy

Because you can see the light of distant stars but have never heard a collision of heavenly bodies; I feel that light will travel further. Turn up your boom box all the way and I still can't hear you in Philadelphia.

Sound would eventually diminish first. ex. you hear someone talking a mile away, you cant hear them. Yet if that person were to hold a flashlight a mile away then you could still see it. Sound has very weak waves.

I reckon light travels further than sound. Put it this way, we don't here the planets and stars moving or sizzling, do we?
