I have my plasma tv hooked up to my cable box with a DVI-D head going from the cable box to the tv with an HDMI cable (DVI-D - HDMI). would an HDMI - HDMI cable provide an even clearer picture?

No. DVI-D (-D for digital as opposed to DVI-A or -I) is no different from HDMI other than a lack of audio.

I wouldn't think so. Both are digital movie standards, and DVI supports resolutions even higher than today's HDTV's (Those big 30 inch computer monitors run on DVI, and computer monitors generally have much higher pixels per inch than TV's)

No it will not. Digital is digital and the cable won't make any difference as long as the signal makes it through.

No. They are both transmitting the TV image digitally. The quality is the same.
