Joshua is the Latinized form of the Hebrew name Yehoshua. Another form of this name is Jesus.
Yehoshua means "god is salvation" (Yeho= one of god's many names, shu'a= from the root of "salvation") in Hebrew and it is written יהושוע (with vowel marks: יְהוֹשֻׁעַ).
Joshua is transliterated "ג'ושוע" in Modern Hebrew.

Actually, Jesus is just the Greek version of his name. It was actually Yeshua or Yehoshua. This is also the equivalent to your name--if Jesus' name were taken straight from "Yeshua" to English, it would be Joshua.
