Obviously, I refused to play chicken (60mph zone) and braked to a near stop . but it took quite a while for lorry & car to sort out their differences,it looked like they were going to just race on side by side all the way down the hill!
My question is,How often does this sort of thing happen? When/why is it that drivers decide it's better to risk death than sit behind this lorry/tractor one second longer?
And why do people take offence at being overtaken and speed-up refusing to let the overtaker back in?
(Especially as most modern lorries etc go very fast and tractor drivers nearly always pull over to let a queue past.)

all I can tell you is that they were both very inconsiderate of others...and both have a death wish...I'm sorry you had to enure this lucky you was aware enough to see it coming and get out of the way....and they are lucky it was you rather than somone else with road rage....this could have been very bad...as to why they would risk their lives and yours...I'm not a psychologist so I can't give a definitive answer....mostly stupidity on both of their part.

That makes a lot of sense. Illustrates how much has gone wrong with society. Email it to the current government, can you. But, of course it will be not pc enough for them. Edit - Haz - I am sure i knew you in a previous life. Back in 70`s Glos, mum of friend from school up the road from us, always made Angel Delight as a pudding. So sophisticated. Mind you, we always had Arctic Roll, at home. Lol.

These are the kind of idiotic drivers that we must avoid at all
costs. They are dangerous and irresponsible drivers to others
on the road. The police or the road transport authorities should
conduct more checks on such driving behaviour.
You did the right thing - by stopping immediately to the side.
Thanks goodness - nothing bad happened.

Because some people behind the wheel of a car or lorry become complete mindless idiots and basically loose the plot........

Lorrys have speed limiters so idoubt it was a race... blame the car driver for this.

In the uk trucks have speed limiters which stop them going over 58mph, so that makes me think it was probably the car not letting the truck back in. Also truck drivers are proffessional drivers, they don't play "Chicken".

This has happened to me on a number of occasions. The people that do this are very stupid, they risk life and limb, and not just their own.

Testosterone. Insurance companies know all about it, which is why young men pay so much money for car insurance, and females get-off cheaper.
