Goswin - That poem referred to those who immigrated from other countries LEGALLY. Those people were proud to reach the U.S. shores and kissed the ground upon arrival, proudly flew the Star and Stripes and gladly learned English, assimilated and worked hard to make a living here. These illegal intruders of today are a sad comparison to those courageous, strong, humble people.

chela - The U.S.A. does not have illegal immigrants in our armed forces. We have 'non-citizens'.. (who are in the process of becoming citizens, are here on visas or have a green card).. who are given citizenship 'quicker' by serving in our armed forces. THEY are NOT illegal immigrants.' They ARE documented here.

Heck no. First they where not born here, they where born some where else. Why should they have rights? Also demand for rights when they don't. I don't care if there working, you came here illegally we don't have any records of you so get the heck out of here and do it legally like others. If your country is not treating you right it's not the USA fault. So they need to stop complaining in the streets, there abusive people let me tell you that.

Oh wait sense in the 1st Amendment it says we have the right of freedom of speech. But if they did it in there country they would have been shot already.

They don't have a right to even BE in this country, much less DEMAND we change a d@mn thing FOR them. THEY need to go home or get deported. The only RIGHT they have is the RIGHT to travel in a southerly direction until they cross the border, and never return.

I'm the son of illegal immigrant(now legal) parents from eastern Europe. And I'm saying no, illegals should not "demand" anything. My parents would agree also. They can ask though.

whatever happened to the "give Me your poor, your tired..." While stricktly they have no legal rights, U.S is often a part of their problems in their homecountries, poverty isnt fun though it makes the rich laugh. U.S is big and strong, should take the role in leading the free world just a tad more seriously, I mean good deeds are remembered. Right now the U.S is seen as a school bully pillaging kids for their lunch money.

How you going to say they don't have any rights unless they become US citizens but yet it's ok for them to be risking their lives for this country --- eventhough they aren't citizens and are not accepted by people like you!?!! What the hell are YOU doing for this country? Nothing... except bitching! Thank you!

Nope, none. It's kind of like me committing robbery and then demanding the law is unfair. Of course I don't like that law, I just broke it!!

I don't think so. If they wanted to be here so badly they would of came here legally and would learn English and obey our laws. No laws should have to be changed for anyone.
