Tell him to share the darn thing for crying out load. When the pup gets older it will know how the little boy treated it and the pup won't like him. My nephew is the same way with pups. When he got his dog he was mean to it, hitting it and just being a little ******. Now the dog hates him. She trys to bite him in the butt and legs when he walks and growls at him.

I don't understand how carying around a puppy is "brutal" or cruel. You just seem to be upset because he does seem to be acting a little selfish with the dog. Tell your friend to talk to her mom about it. Also did any of you other people who put that he was being cruel to the animal even read the whole question?

Okay, the boy is being brutal because he carries it around and will not let the others hold it or play with it, am I right? And everyone is telling you to report him for animal cruelty?? Give me a break! What is cruel about givijng a dog the love it needs?? I think I am the only one who actually read your question??

I imagine if the parents aren't monitoring the child and puppy together, then they don't much care what the kid is doing to it. I HATE people like that. Chances are that speaking to the parents isn't going to help either in this case as they are obviously not being responsible what so ever.
You can call a local shelter and report them. It's about the only option you have, but if the child isn't actually hurting the puppy physically, they may not be able to do anything about it. But hey, what have you got to lose by calling, right?

How old is the boy? Is he picking the puppy up improperly? Could how he is carrying him/picking him up be causing him injury? If so, express concern to his mother and find a website about proper handling of the pup.
If the pup is handled to roughly and painfully, he will learn to distrust people, especially children. This could also cause behavior problems that could lead to a serious bite as the pup gets older.

Try contacting your local rescue centre and get them to come over to speak to the boy. I would make sure that you let the parents know and your friend first, just so they aren't insulted. Tell them that it is the little brother that is being cruel and not them. Or contact the rescue centre and ask if they could talk to the boy about caring for the puppy,if you took him along one day.

oh my gosh!!! save the puppy from what?? If she didn't want her little brother to carry it around then she shouldnt have got it!! Puppy's are used to being mothered. Havent you ever seen a mother get up when all the puppys are nursing and might step on one. all he is doing is loving it!

Just be forceful with him and maybe if the mom tried that to so it is not your fault but you could Just have the mom send him to his room and that would help and give you a chance you could put the puppy out of his reach or lock the cage because also the puppy may snap on him one day and he could get seriously hurt so that is about it

Ask him really sweetly to hold the puppy like ya know Shirley Temple type of thing then call down your friend to take him to her room and if that doesn't work tell the childs parents so perhaps a grounding will come his way
