At the age of 2 kids are still learning how their body regulates. And he is likely looking for permission/support to go since it is a relatively new thing. And to know that you are proud of him for his accomplishment! You are lucky that your son is atleast going pee in the potty. I have a 2 1/2 year old little girl who wants nothing to do with it. She will only sit on it (dressed) when she is having her teeth brushed.

He's too young to do this alone. He can't handle undressing and climbing up on the potty alone and he shouldn't be trying to. He needs someone to help him up and back off it and to help him clean himself and wash his hands. When he's confident and capable, he'll soon want to do it all by himself. But as a rule, it's a good idea to closely monitor a small person in the bathroom. Little children can drown in even a small amount of water, and they always want to try throwing things in the toilet like Daddy's watch or car keys. Do you really want a two-year-old unsupervised in the potty?

because he is 2. he probably feels that he needs approval to stop doing what he is doing and go. Just let him know that it is OK to go when he wants without asking, and eventually he will get it. maybe that is all it will take. Just remember, when you are telling him this, he is thinking about how full his bladder is. Maybe you should tell him after he goes pee. good luck.

mother of 2 with one on the way.
