yep, enjoy it while it lasts, soon he's going to realize that there is a world out there and he/she will want to be a part of it.

For the first several weeks your baby will sleep for huge amounts of time... Think of all the work he/she did in the process of being born... after about 3-4 weeks he/she should slowly begin having more and more awake time each 24 hour period...
Remember a baby does not always open his or her eyes or fuss and cry when he or she is awake so your baby may be having a bit more awake time each 24 hour period than you realize...
So yes it's perfectly normal and ok for the baby to be resting that much right now.. You get rest too if you can, take advantage of this natural restful time for baby to rest and allow your body to mend itself from the rigors of pregnancy and labor...

When a baby is going through a growth spurt, they sleep a lot. Newborns are almost constantly growing. A baby will sleep less and less as they get older, though every once in a while they will have a day where sleep a lot again. I have a 9-month old who has numerious naps and sleeps all night, but will sometimes sleep in on a morning. It's normal because they are in a growth spurt. As someone said above, enjoy it while you can. Good luck!

Oh Yeah!!! It's really nice when they sleep all the time like that. Just remember for you to try and sleep while the baby is, because it's not going to be like that forever and you're going to wish you took full advantage of the situation.

Completely normal and to be expected. As they get older they will sleep more at once, and not as often.
