You might learn something about how America in the process. America has stuck it's nose in Central America, Mexico and South American politics since 1800's. Due to the Monroe Doctrine it lead to the war with Mexico, the intervention of Russia putting nuclear missles in Cuba, and the intervention in Nicaragua. You as an American, forget that we are a polyglot of people from Asia, Europe, Africa, Middle East, South America, Central America, and Mexico. To understand others is to combat racism. To not understand others is bias and ignorance. This is not a little world anymore, in 24 hours you can be anywhere in the world. With the internet you can be in contact with anyone anywhere.

I am Hispanic and I don't give a damn if you learn about my culture, I don't care if you do, so don't say that we want you to learn about Hispanic culture... i don't think any Hispanic would give a damn either if you choose to learn about it or not.
*Soulsearcher, do you even know what a Chicano is?

I agree. Most of them, take Annie for example, see how rude her posts are? Yet they become totally offended if you or I behave in the shameful manner that they do. They think that we must always hold the high ground. (morally speaking) To put it in a nutshell, most are very arrogant and stupid, which is a bad combination.

They come from a country where there is only one culture, one language. They have not learned tolerance for others. They are taught that they are superior to others and no one checks them on it because other races, nationalities, cultures are not around to tell them how full of *&it they are. They surround themselves only with people who look like them and speak their language so they can maintain the myth. They need to be educated. It will take them awhile to see themselves from the perspective of another. They lack a level of emotional and psychological maturity that is attained only by those whose world view is constantly challenged.
