My dad has leukemia and its just the same. If your white blood cell count is higher than the red blood cell count, its usually a type of leukemia. Ask your doctor to give you the results. If he doesn't know, find a different doctor. My dad went through 6 doctors before they found out what was wrong with him. best of kuck to you.

Why did they send you to the cancer center? High White Blood Count usually means an infection? But I am not a doctor or nurse

A high white blood cell count can mean something as simple as the flu, it just means that your body is trying to fight an infection.

Lupus has no effect on your white cell blood count, if your doctor suspected that you may have Lupus he would have given you a different blood test caled an Anti Nuclear Antibody test.

If your doctor thought you had anything serious they would have done follow up tests, so don't worry.
