In war anything goes,as we learnt from world war two, but before that in wars of colonization, sure there may have been rules to govern the Western powers in there engagements, but against anyone else murder rape and pillaging where the order of the day. Muslims, i mean Muslims, (not terrorists-try to differentiate b/w Muslims and terrorists) have the role model for war. In the times of the belovedProphet(PBUH), we never attacked by surprise. We always let our ennemies know we were comig. If they were fighting with swords, we fought with swords. War was equal.
