Legally, that a woman's body is her own and until the fetus is capable of surviving outside the womb, no one can tell her to keep it or abort it. That's not entirely fair to fathers, but men don't get pregnant.
Ethically, that everyone makes mistakes and a pregnant woman is entitled to do what she feels is necessary to keep her life on track. This would include teen pregnancies, pregnancies resulting from rape, and medically dangerous pregnancies. But, having made the mistake once, she really ought to have learned from the first mistake. Stories of repeated abortions make me sick.
Oh, and I'm an atheist.

With the exception of a woman becoming impregnated by rape, I am against abortion. Women have every right to do with their bodies as they see fit, however, it's NOT THEIR BODIES that they are destroying...it is the body of an unborn human being. Since the "all knowing" United States Supreme Court gave the OK for women to have abortions, we as a society, may have already destroyed the lives of someone who could have very well grown up to become a doctor that could have developed a cure for cancer or AIDS or any disease that people are now wanting stem cells for research. Think about it...do you honestly believe that God is going to "Bless America" if we keep on destroying innocent life for the sole purpose of our own satisfaction and our unwillingness to be responsible adults?

Atheist/Jewish -
I believe that A) abortion should be legal but B) abortion is not a good choice.
Instead of arguing over whether abortion is right or not I would rather see people invest there time, energy and money in working to reduce the number of abortions. Possible ways would include: 1) really teach people about responsible sex, 2) really teach people about birth control, 3) make birth control and reproductive counseling available and acceptable, 4) offer realistic and socially acceptable support for women who do have unwanted pregnancies and might want to go for adoption rather than abortion.
All these changes (and more) will take a lot of attitude adjustments especially from organized religion but I'd bet that we could reduce abortions to a tiny, tiny percentage of the current number and make a lot of infertile couples very, very happy in the process.

I believe Abortion justified in cases of rape, incest, or when complications from the pregnancy pose a serious threat to the life or well being of the mother, in any other case it is being used for birth control. I consider the use of abortion for birth control wrong, since there are other far less extreme measures available. With the technology available in the U.S. there is no reason, other than the three stated above, for there to ever be an unplanned pregnancy. In my ideal world every Abortion Clinic in the world would shut down for lack of use, however the Fundamentalist Christians, by opposing sex education and distribution of birth control in schools and at federal expense, have made abortion the only form of birth prevention available. They can scream all they want about abstinence, but in todays society most young adults don't even consider that an option. High school kids need to be educated about the risks, the Fundies think that if they don't talk about sex their teenagers won't think of it on their own, which is absurd. Sex is happening, nothing is going to change that, the argument is no longer about abstinence vs promiscuity, it's about safe sex vs un-safe sex. We need to ensure that if someone does chose to be sexually active, they know the risks and what to do about them. For the record, I am a Pagan, and I raised my daughter with honesty and education, I made sure she knew the risks, then I told her it was ultimately her decission. That is why she was a virgin at her wedding. I believe that if we give our kids a chance, most of them will do the right thing, the Fundies just refuse to give them the chance.

Abortion is the killing of a existence that has been created. Many nevertheless have self assurance, i assume, that existence starts off once you're born yet i've got self assurance existence starts off as quickly as we are created. The Bible needless to say states that. All religions could nicely be argued on an ongoing foundation, for each man or woman believes theirs' is the stunning way. i've got studied the origins of many faiths and nevertheless could have self assurance the worship of one real God became the beginning place of each little thing, till some separated and made their very own religions and idols. too plenty extra to flow into right here.

Every abortion kills an innocent human being. Every abortion is murder. Anyone who doubts this needs to see:

I am Christian, more accurately I am a radical disciple of Jesus Christ.
Abortion is a very complex issue from my perspective.
Reasons against abortion:
Life begins prior to birth and life and death are for God to decide.
God references the womb so it is believed that before birth the fetus is given a soul. The woman's choice should have been exercised prior to conception by use of birth control be it abstinance, medication, barriers, chemical prevention or sterilization techniques. Great people came from botched attempts at abortion and other circumstances that abortion if available would have been used.
Reasons in favor of abortion:
Women should beable to choose what happens in their own bodies and will afect the rest of their lives. Fetus' are simbiants and can not exist alone so are not independant life. The health on mother and/or child might be at risk . The child may have major defects.
Mitigating factors:
Rape, birth defects, Risk to mother.
My opinion and reasons:
I believe God's base will is life. The woman has every opportunity pre-conception to prevent pregnancy. (I am a gay male that has been celibate for 2+ years. If I can say no so can they) I work closely with the disabled community and all that were born with their disabilities agree that they are glad they are alive and have value and worth. God is mor capable that humans to determine life and death. In the case of rape if God chooses to create life from it God has a purpose for that life and it is not our place to deny it. If mothers life is at risk it is to God to decide the outcome not me.
I say no to abortion but yes to choice. The choice takes many forms prior to conception. If a person chooses to engage with another person (i.e. two are gather of like mind to perform an act that is expressly designed to preate a child) They are stuck until birth of the child. After that they can again choose to give up responsibility for the life and liet the state or adoptive parents raise the child but for the 9 month of pregnancy their fate is sealed.
Now on the issue of conditional abortion I have floundered through out my life. Currently I am of the mind set to trust God and God's wisdom and say no circumstance should allow abortion.
I also againist my own heart's leading follow this same concept regarding the death penalty and euthanatia. At no time am I to chose to end a life that God created. It is for God and God alone to make life and death decissions. My job is to preserve the will of God which is life even if it kills me to do so.

I am also against Stem cell research, and invetro-fertilization.
Why is it that if a woman is on her way to get an abortion and gets into a car accident and is killed, then the person responsible for the car accident is charged with killing two people, her and the baby? Just a bunch of cells my foot.
Aren't you glad your mother chose life?

I believe in your free will and that no one has the right to tell you what you can and cannot do, as long as your not hurting another.
As for abortion, there really is no reason for it unless in the case of rape, people are just too lazy to except personal responsibilities for ther actions anymore. There seems to be no value placed upon ourselves as a whole anymore. My religion!!
you have to be kidding. I AM. S

Well... here's your basic question, rewritten: What is your view on killing innocent children that have no chance to live or make a difference in this world? Just my opinion: I think that murder is wrong (personal opinion) and that denying a precious infant's chance to live is kinda like their rights being stripped from them. Life is a gift... Don't take away someone else's.
