Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

It's simple math: burn more calories than you take in.
If you are really serious about losing weight, I would suggest doing the 40 min of cardio before breakfast 5-6 days a week. You also need to eat less fat and sugar and drink more water. Consistency is the key.

Yes. You would loose the most wieght if your able to do those three sessions of 40 minutes of cardio, first thing in the morning, before you eat ANYTHING.
You'll still loose wieght if you do it later in the da, or after you've eaten, but, you'll have to spend the first 20 minutes burning off the simple sugars in your blood stream. Then you'll have another 20 burning fat.
If you do the math on that one... you can get twice as much fat burning for your trouble if your willing to do it on a completely empty stomach (except for water, drink plenty before, durring and all day.
Good luck

It hasn't worked for me; I walk for 40 minutes 3-4 times a week, go the the gym 2-3 times a week, and do squats and crunches every night and I still don't have the desired result.

Yes, you would if you did it at a speed that challenged you. Your blood pressure would be lower as well. If you are looking to shape your body, however, you also need to do a couple of days to weight training. Your body will thank you and you will remain younger and healthier your life through.
Mr. M on "cardio."

It depends on where you are now. If you are already fit, no. If this is new and you have weight to lose, absolutely. You may need to ease in even slower though. Set a goal that you can do and slowly increase it. If you bite off more than feels good you are more likely to quit.

If you burn more calories than you eat, you lose weight.
If not, you don't.
When taking up exercise, some people get discouraged because they actually gain a little, but that is because muscle weighs more than fat.
The additional muscle will help burn more calories, so keep after it.
I don't exercise anyway, your heart only has so many beats in it, why would I want to use them up early... LOL
