I have 5 dogs and 5 cats. How do I let them know that it is still OK to pee on the trees outside but not on the trees inside? I have reconciled myself that any low ornaments will be batted off the tree by many paws. "Look guys, new toys", and I also know the dangers of Xmas plants. The pets are all normally good about going outside to do their duty, but I'd like to make sure. Any suggestions? Thanks.

A real tree or artificial? Usually if a dog is used to going outside they will not bother the tree. You may try spraying some of the stuff they sell to keep dogs away. As for the cats!!! Mine used to climb our tree. Our cat went running across the room with a whole string of lights attached to him. I can't tell you how many trees toppled over from them. Tie it to the ceiling!!!! Good luck.

Your dogs are confused because the tree inside your hair for Christmas is just like one outside. To avoid wet messes, get a fake tree. The smell of a fake tree will not attract your dogs, and your dogs will know better. It's not about appearance dog see, it's the scent and that's why dogs might pee on real live christmas trees. Remember, oranements low to the ground will fall easier because you have 10 pets in your house...keep them higher so they dogs won't play with them. My dog use to steel them and try to eat them. Good luck!

We gate our tree off with baby gates in another room. If you can't do that then a tree skirt pulled up the trunk works. You also have to worry about them drinking the water if it is a live tree. Bad for the animals and not so hot for the tree as it will dry out quicker.

I would wait until after Thanksgiving to put out decorations so that I don't tire of them by the time the day arrives! I would just put out waterproof ornaments, if my doggies were determined to "mark" them. Happy decorating!

You can buy spray stuff at almost any pet store that
should keep your animals from doing that. Basically,
they dont like the smell so they go elsewhere.

Good luck
