What does the Bible mean that we are not to judge others?

It seems that whenever one person confronts another person over an issue, the statement "Do not judge!" comes up. Christians are often accused of "judging" in contradiction to what the Bible says whenever they speak out against a sinful activity. However, that is not the meaning of the Scripture verses which state, "Do not judge." When Jesus told us not to judge (Matthew 7:1), He was telling us not to judge hypocritically. Matthew 7:2-5 declares, "For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, Let me take the speck out of your eye when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."

In Matthew 7:2-5, Jesus warns against judging someone else for their sin when you yourself are sinning even worse. That is the kind of judging Jesus commanded us not to do. If a believer sees another believer sinning, it is their Christian duty to lovingly and respectfully confront the person with their sin (Matthew 18:15-17). This is not judging, but rather pointing out the truth in hope of bringing repentance in the other person (James 5:20).

You don't read the Bible much.... do you? But if that is true...I think if we wait till then to see what our judgement is ...then it is definitely going to be too late for many.....God gives us the Bible to guide us and to speak to us...He also gave it to us to lead us into salvation thru the Blood of His Precious Son...and I am afraid if you wait till then to see what your outcome is..... it is going to be too late....and I don't judge others because the Bible tells me it is not my place...that is God's job and if you think about it He alone is qualified to do it...You , I or no one else can see what is in another person's heart...so why don't you take your own advice and stop judging others too....you are telling us that we do it...so isn't that judging as well...

While aspiring to Godliness is good, it is a very very high standard that at times conflicts with one's ability to function in our society. To put it simply if God had to live a month on earth and survive He would do so by adhering to certain principles brought forth by certain judgements.
You can't live like you're in heaven if you're not in heaven.

I don't think God judges us, even then. I think we judge ourselves and we can be very tough judges indeed. We all need to lighten up.

Peace!
