It's a religion, like any other religion.

The best of those who follow Islam use it to inspire good works and encourage behavior benefiting those around them.

The worst use it as an excuse for violence and hatred.

Just like Christianity. Think Catholics vs. Protestents in Northern Ireland for decades. Or the Jesuit priests during the Inquisition. Or the Conquistadors.

It's principles have been hijacked by some very violent and truly hateful people, but those people do not, in my opinion, represent Islam.

If a cause is noble and righteous, there will always be people who seek to turn that cause to evil purpose. The more noble and righteous the cause, the bigger target it appears to be in the eyes of such people. It's up to those who truly believe in the nobleness and the righteousness of the cause to cause the efforts of such people to fail.

Islam is a religion of peace. Those that use the "Islam excuse" when being terrorists or perpetrating violent acts are stupid and brainless.

Islam is a HARD religion to practice. I was thinking about converting for a long time, but one cannot believe in both Muhammad AND Jesus, so I chose the religion that I've been practicing forever, Christianity.

Everything is regimented. Prayer, for example, is insane when trying to practice it. You have to wash before you pray, and say your prayer a certain way every time, depending upon which prayer you are reciting. And don't forget about Ramadan. You have to fast. Which I can't do for medical reasons, so that was an issue as well.

Took me about two weeks to figure out that it's painfully obvious that I CANNOT practice Islam, and that there's no way I can.

So, hence, my opinion.

I respect Islam a great deal. True Muslims are wonderful people. I am moving to an Islamic country in 3 weeks and I know I will be treated so well.

Have you seen the religion of peace be peaceful?
Have you seen Christians, Buddhists or Hindus cut heads off?
Have you heard any Imum denounce any terrorism?
The fact is...
Islam has always been a death religion stuck in the 10th century. Time and time again they have caused havoc on other cultures. They burned down the Library of Alexandria in Egypt because they only read one book, the Koran. They destroyed ancient statues in India because they where not Islamic in nature. The women are at fault when they get raped.
They are still allowed to beat there women. It's bad enough they make them cover themselves from head to toe.
Nothing they have done proves they are civil.
Yes there are exceptions but when they speak out against the nuts they are beheaded. WHAT KIND OF RELIGION IS THIS THAT PERMITS SUCH BARBARISM!!!

The more I learn about it, the more frightening it becomes. At first, it seems that Mohammed wanted to be a prophet of God, and was all warm & fuzzy, but when the Jews rejected him as a prophet, he suddenly started the "kill all infidels" stuff. God doesn't change His mind mid-stream, He would have already known that people wouldn't believe Him, He sure knew they wouldn't believe Jesus, but Jesus didn't do the "kill all infidels" thing. Why didn't he? Because Jesus was truly sent by God. Prophets are held up to scrutiny, they have to be good examples, not pedophiles and murderers. Mohammed was no prophet, he was a wanna be prophet who convinced millions he was real. When you see the horrors muslims commit in his name, well, it basically makes all islam look bad. Its especially bad since their own leaders won't try to stop it, thus making the religion itself look bad, instead of just the terrorists themselves. Face it, how many countries can you think of would actually go out and have street parties after hearing that thousands had died in a terrorist attack? We hear of terrible things like this, we try to help and we mourn, they partied in the streets........... It's inhumane, in no way from God.

nicely, I accept as true with you that Islam, like quite a few faith, isn't outright evil. people who prepare a faith are solid or evil and maximum Muslims, like maximum religious human beings often, are good human beings. it incredibly is merely the a*sholes that injury any faith for something human beings. outdoors of that, i've got not got lots of an opinion on Islam, because of the fact i do no longer understand plenty approximately it. for this reason why i do no longer answer any questions approximately Islam or instruct any comments. i do no longer decide to assert something offensive or look stupid for asserting something as quickly as I actually do no longer understand. And earlier the Christian inhabitants jumps on me for my honesty, bear in mind that i became raised for 2 an prolonged time as a Lutheran. i comprehend a great bit approximately Christianity, so I certainly have a perfect to make remark. actually, i might decide to income extra approximately Islam. no longer plenty to strengthen right into a follower, merely comprehend the religion extra. I freely admit I stay in an fairly white farming community it fairly is a solid 60% Catholic/Lutheran. After that, it incredibly is nevertheless yet another solid 30% Christian(Methodist, Episcopal, Mormon, Baptist, somewhat some scattered faiths right here and there), and the final 10% is even smaller proportions of non-Christian faiths. We do have some Muslims interior the section, yet no longer many, and that i do no longer understand each physique in my view. I have not have been given any real concept the place to look for good and impartial suggestions and our e book place's tremendously crappy(the only solid one we had closed approximately 4 years decrease back, regrettably), so i will no longer be able to even get a duplicate of the Koran to study that for starters. i might could tension 2 hours for that(even nonetheless it incredibly is on my record of books to get next time i flow to that distinctive city the place I DO get my books at). i comprehend that Islam is unquestionably no longer an evil faith, no extra beneficial than Christianity is. Has its extremists and idiots, confident, merely like incredibly everyone else. could wade in the process the weirdos to locate the real faith. it incredibly is not any longer plenty, even nonetheless it fairly is a start up a minimum of. Heh, wager I could admittedly submit a query on right here, see if i can get a itemizing of high-quality ingredients. became raised Christian, so I certainly comprehend that faith, yet there's a ton extra available i might decide to have extra useful wisdom on, which comprise Islam.

It's an interesting religion. I don't believe it, personally, but I don't believe much of anything. They've got their share of nutcases, just like every other religion and more than their share of bad press. You've got to respect people who pray on their knees five times a day, though. The Christians I know don't do all that.

To me Islam is a very different faith to mine. The little I know about them I don't like. This thing of chopping hands off if a person steals beats the cake !! It is hard for me to say this but I don't like the way they look, mainly that veil over the faces of their women and for them to compare that with christian nuns is a joke ! I don't like faiths that have in their scriptures that stoning women for being unfaithful, for example, is OK (Judaism and Islam). I much prefer the Christian belief/approach that God is forgiving if we TRULY repent. I say this to muslims ' WITHOUT INTENDING TO INSULT I AM SORRY GUYS BUT I DO NOT LIKE YOU OR YOUR CUSTOMS.... YOU ARE DIFFERENT AND FOREIGN TO OUR CULTURE AND RELIGIOUS BELIEFS AND YOU ARE INTENT ON CHANGING THE CULTURES YOU MOVE INTO. You will NEVER succeed !!' Sorry if it hurts !

Just another Religion... Without any advantages or disadvantages over the average religion. It doesn't have anything on Buddhism or Taoism in my opinion, but it seems to be about even with Christianity...
