Bankers estimate their wealth in the TRILLIONS .... on top of that ... they are EXEMPT from paying taxes, because of their standing! They even have their own bank ... the Vatican Bank ... by the 1990's, the bank had invested over $10 BILLION in foreign countries .... WTF!!!
Part of what made the Bank so profitable was that it offered certain illegal services; for 5%, the Bank would launder industrialists' money, or money of those well-connected with the Catholic Church. The money laundering scandal leaked out in 1968 due to a change in Italian financial regulations, which would have mandated more transparency. To prevent a scandal that would occur if the public learned the extent to which the Vatican Bank retained its profits and expanded its operations , Pope Paul VI enlisted Michele Sindona as papal finance advisor to sell off assets and move money overseas to hide the full extent of Vatican wealth. It was Sindona who was chiefly responsible for the massive influx of money when he began laundering the Gambino crime family's heroin monies (taking a 50% cut) through a shell corporation "Mabusi". This laundering was accomplished with the help of another banker, Roberto Calvi, who managed the Banco Ambrosiano. Interestingly, both Calvi and Sindona were members of the P2 Lodge.

They are helping poor countries, in answer to another question.. The sad thing about the pedophilia charges is it does not come out of the Vatican--It comes out of the individual Parishes. I don't think anybody really knows how much the total worth of the Vatican is.

It's one of the largest "corporations" in the world. Try multi-billions !!! And yes I did say a corporation because less be serious it is run as a business all Churches are to some extent or they wouldn't be able to keep their doors open and help people. So please don't send me hate comments over this!!

Its hard to judge how much St Peters' Rome could be sold for, I think they would find it hard to demolish it and build a housing estate or high rise office buildings there instead. I guess it is only worth what people are willing to pay for its real estate.
